HONNOLD LIBRARY RENOVATION

Claremont, CA

COMPLETION DATE: 2001

OWNER: Claremont University Consortium

CONTRACTOR: Southland Construction

Honnold Library is the central library for all of the Claremont Colleges and has been a centerpiece of the associated colleges since it was first constructed in 1952. The renovation of the building required the design team to be sensitive to its historic nature while updating it to meet more modern needs. The outcome of the project was a comprehensive replacement of all outdated building systems, flooring, ceilings, and windows; information technology upgrades; reconfiguration of the book stacks; and improving handicapped accessibility to restroom and book stack areas.
