SEAVER HALL SOUTH RENOVATION
Claremont, CA
COMPLETION DATE: 2009
OWNER: Pomona College
CONTRACTOR: The Whiting- Turner Contracting Company
Seaver Hall South was a 50-year-old concrete building in need of a complete overhaul of its interior spaces, technology, and seismic safety. To achieve this, the building was gutted, and temporary systems were installed to keep the adjacent building's systems functional during the year-long construction. The new building included a new vivarium, classrooms, research labs, lab storage and preparation rooms, faculty offices, and a faculty lounge. The site surrounding the building was designed to visually link it to the adjacent biology and chemistry buildings, as well as provide pedestrian flow between all three buildings.
